Fabulous view from the huge dining area; perfect for watching the sunset with a beer or glass of wine. Lots to see and do nearby, even if the weather is not perfect. Garden good for games and large barbecue area. Good flexible accommodation and pool, table football and darts for family challenges!

We stayed at this stunning property for 5 days. We had 17 adults and 7 kids in our group, and no one could fault the place! The kids loved the football table, and the guys loved the pool table and darts! The house is set in a quiet location with only sheep as neighbours. There is a nice outdoors bit, with a BBQ and a few wooden benches which we took the opportunity to use. All bedrooms were a decent size, and clean! There are some lovely local walks, and lots of things to see and do nearby. We would not hesitate staying here again. Thank you for sharing your property, we have had a lovely stay!

It really is the most amazing property, in a breath taking location. The views are incredible and the property is very well looked after & had everything we needed. We had the best weekend. Also great communication with the owners, leading up to our stay & very helpful. We will all definitely be recommending the Mermaid Inn.

What a stunning place. 23 of us meet here for a 70th birthday and it exceeded our expectations! The views, location, tons of room for everyone, every bedroom had an en suite and the bar was great!! Highly recommend for big groups. Loads of great walks and things to do close by. Would defo come again!!

I have a rather large family, 31 of us when we all get together and this was the perfect place to do just that! Mark, who let us in, was helpful and chatty. He was able to tell us all the information we wanted to know for our stay and show us around (which we needed, this place is a little maze!) The view is amazing and they have displayed it well with a massive window. Some of the pictures are a little deceptive as it feels larger when you are there than it looks in the pictures. There was not one moment that we felt crammed in or cramped - even with 6 children running around! We had enough room for everyone to have a round the table chat, a chill out area with comfortable sofas some alone or quiet space when people needed it and a rowdy pub when they didn't! There are lots of puzzles and board games and a good welcome pack to give you the basics. The kitchen is tidy and large, there was only one thing that didn't work (tin opener) and that was replaced the moment we mentioned it. It had pretty much everything we needed in there, including salt and vinegar! The bar was a wonderful gathering place and the games machines were well used by the whole family. There are stains on the pool table, but it is not ruffled or broken and the whole place has been well looked after and refurbished to a high standard. The local brewery can deliver barrels for you as well, and there are optics to use and two good fridges behind the bar The garden space, although not landscaped, fits into the surroundings and is large enough to play a good game of fetch with the dogs and have other games on with the humans! It is mostly enclosed, but has a bit of a gap, so had to keep an eye on the little ones. The car park is big enough for quite a few cars, we had a lot of room to spare. It is easy to find as it is directly on the main road, which was fast, but not busy and we barely noticed it most of the time. The sign for the inn is slightly awkward while trying to turn right out of the carpark, but did not cause any problems. The water pressure was amazing, I expecting to have to run around in the shower to get wet because there were so many of us showering at the same time, but it was so strong that i had to be careful not to soak the whole room! The booking of the venue went smoothly and the owners were friendly and helpful throughout the process, answering questions promptly and politely, even when I changed things around at last minute and then changed them back again! The only thing that was not great about this place was the wifi. It does not extend throughout the house and is not completely reliable in the areas that it is in, but to be honest it was nice to get away from it all for a few days. This place is not cheap, but you definitely get what you pay for and more besides.

Stunning house in a stunning location . Total privacy apart from the sheep. We were shown around on arrival explaining where everything was how things worked . We were given a telephone number to ring in case of any queries . There was 29 of us stayed and not one of us could find a fault everything lovely . Bar area brilliant . Would definitely recommend staying here

A group of 30 of us, including 9 children stayed here for a long weekend to celebrate my husband's 40th birthday. It is an absolutely amazing venue for such a large gathering, standing out amongst others due to the huge dining area where we could all eat together whilst enjoying the beautiful views from the massive picture window, the bedrooms all being en suite, and the fantastic bar area and pool table that was thoroughly enjoyed during our stay!! The area is beautiful and the views spectacular - we enjoyed the outside areas by having a sunset BBQ and made use of the large grassed area for playing football and a water slide for the kids! We mainly stayed at the house during our stay as there was enough to keep everyone entertained there, but we did take a walk to the Mermaid Pool and had a drive into Buxton which was lovely - there are plenty of things to do locally if you did want to venture out. We could not fault the Mermaid Inn, everything you need is provided and the organisation in the run up to our stay was brilliant and everyone was so helpful. Highly recommended - we are already looking for another reason to get everyone together to stay there again!!

I assembled 28 friends and family to celebrate my 60th birthday. The Mermaid In had everything we needed - plenty of space, with various places to chat, drink, eat and be merry! The bar was the perfect focal point for our celebrations and Saturday night we formally all sat at the table and it was just wonderful I cannot think of anywhere that could have catered for the size of our group, all bedrooms en-suite, the long table for dinner and so on. We reflected after we left "would we have done anything different?" and that was a resounding "no" You will not be disappointed - if you're considering it, go for it, you won't be sorry.
