Fantastic Birthday Weekend... I booked the Mermaid Inn for my 60th Birthday and have just returned after spending the best Birthday and weekend ever. I celebrated with my wonderful family, ages ranging from 14 months to 85 years. It was a perfect location, the house is outstanding the views are spectacular - even taking the breath away of our younger members, especially the magnificent sunsets. The photo's don't do it justice, my suggestion would be that you see for yourselves. The house itself has everything and more that you need for your stay and it is absolutely spotless. There are so many great things about the house it is hard to put into words- I'm still on a high from the most memorable weekend of my life. The house is just full to bursting of warmth, happiness and love from the moment you walk in it is just magical. We can't wait to come back. A huge Thank You to Pete, Marie-Axelle and team from the moment I made the booking to our arrival they could'nt have been more helpful. 1st Class.

Exceptional House, Location & Facilities... This was the perfect setting for a Hen Party of 28 people with a range of ages from 25 through to 75. The settings are spectacular and the house has everything you could need. The pub facilities made the weekend and provided a great focal point for the weekend, but equally there was plenty of space to relax and unwind. Will definitely be back in the future.

Just had the best weekend ever at The Mermaid for my daughters hen party .When I found the property online thought it was just too good to be true all bedrooms on suite ,our own pub ,a table big enough for us all to eat together and plenty of comfy couches for us all to chill on . Well it lived up to all my expectations and more .From the minute we arrived and Mark showed us round we knew we were going to have a great weekend .There was 28 of us ranging in age from a 6 month old to a 70 yr old .I arranged a spa day for the Saturday with Heaven at Home Spa were therapists came to us and we were treated to the most amazing facials ,massages etc ,It was the best pyjama day ever .In the evening we were spoilt by most gorgeous 3 course meal cooked for us by The Dinner Party Company, David & his staff excelled themselves .Thank you Sharon .We used all the facilities enjoying the karaoke and Pool especially .We would have played darts but struggled with the lighting my recommendation would be to fit a light above the dart board but it didn’t spoil our fun .As other reviews have said the views are amazing and when we woke up Sunday morning to the snow it was breathtaking .Thank you Peak Occasions

What a brilliant weekend! I recently booked the mermaid inn for a walking weekend with 16 close mates and we had a truly fantastic time. The Inn was perfect for us with loads of space and lots of well designed rooms all with en-suite bathrooms... the darts, snooker and table football kept us entertained when we weren’t out walking or playing sports. At meal times the long tables and brilliant views of the Peak District made the event even better! It has a really great feel to the place and we all said we’d wished we were staying longer! I’ll definitely be rebooking for a return trip and recommending to others!

The Mermaid Inn is an amazing property. The house is huge, all with decent sized bedrooms and en-suites, with new or recently re-refurbished facilities. The views form the dining room are exceptional and the bar area incredible. Made for an excellent weekend. Thanks!

We booked the Mermaid part based on nostalgia as I remembered going there when it was a working pub in my youth, and partly based on the reviews. Could it be as good as it seemed? well - it could not have been better in any way. The rooms are smart and comfortable, the bar is the perfect party and games space and there is a variety of cosy spaces for chatting, chilling, enjoying a bit of down time all at the same time. Local supermarkets deliver to the door and we enjoyed the excellent services if Chef David at the Dinner Party Company for my 60th birthday celebration - super food and super efficient and friendly service. And all that before mentioning the most magical thing of all - the breathtaking views and magnificent walks right from the doorstep. I have loved the Peak District all my life and been to many parts of it over the years... trust me... this less well known part is amongst the very best. perfect place, perfect setting... and the scene is set for memories to last a lifetime.

60th Birthday Weekend Fantastic!!!! Came here to start my 60th Birthday celebrations and what a weekend we had. 22 adults ranging from 22 to 60 and 6 children from 21months to 13. All 13 bedrooms en suite and so comfortable. We all had a fantastic time, So much room for everyone to do their own thing or all together. The weather wasn't very kind to us but it didn't matter there was so much for us all to do, from the Kareoke in the bar our pool and dart competitions playing board games or just reading and chilling. Then being able to eat all together on the fantastic dining table with views to die for. The kitchen had plenty equipment to cater for all our needs and so handy to have all our food delivered on our arrival so no need to leave for the whole weekend , but if you wanted to the villages of Buxton and Bakewell are not too far away. All in all I'd highly recommend The Mermaid Inn for any Special Occasion for large groups. And a special thank you to Pete who answered all of my questions, and believe me there were a few!, for all his help in making this a weekend to remember.

Even better than the pictures. Every year, I get together a common interest group of friends from across the country to relax, enjoy ourselves, explore the local environment and catch up. Finding somewhere to host all of us is tricky - but Pete, Marie-Axelle and Mark couldn't have made it easier or more hospitable or been more helpful in the lead up and on arrival. The Mermaid Inn itself is remote, beautiful and superbly kitted out. Every room had everything everyone needed. The entrance into the bar makes you feel special, the dining room is just breathtaking (not a single person didn't walk in and go "look at this view," or an expletive filled version!) and the social areas are the right size for groups to break off and have a chat. Then there's the environment around you. I could tell you about the view, and how the photos don't do it justice. I could tell you about the hills around you and the potential to explore. I could tell you about the peace, the shooting stars, the sunset and sunrises you feel so lucky to see. There are so many great things I want to say or explain, but if the words exist in the English language to express how happy being there surrounded by my friends made me feel, I don't know them yet. There are supermarkets nearby, enough space for everything you need, excursions, walks and sheep who'll leave you alone. We'd been somewhere else the previous years, but this blew the other venue out of the water. I'm hoping to go back next year, and so is everyone else. Hope no-one beat us to our preferred date!!
